Long Bio:
Rum Velvet is a brass band that plays Eclectic World Jazz inspired by music from West Africa, Eastern Europe, and India, along with a tribute to America’s rich “Hot Jazz” tradition. They put their own spin on the music with a mix of covers and original songs. Along with this they offer some outlandish tales of adventure and intrigue (don’t hear everything you believe) which all adds up to fun, stylish, and danceable entertainment.
Absolutely and Completely True Bio:
They remain a whimsical mystery. Some say they formed in eastern Europe a decade ago, playing among the great Balkan bands. Others claim that their extensive catalog of original music was heavily influenced by an extended tour of West Africa and the Indian subcontinent. Still others swear that they came together in Kingston, Jamaica while in graduate school. Whatever the truth, the band’s varied musical influences are undeniable and one feels compelled to declare Rum Velvet the world’s greatest band… being described in this paragraph.
